Haruna Abdullahi

Haruna Abdullahi is a Development Economist and Pension Investment Portfolio Analyst at Nigeria’s National Pension Commission (PenCom), with over a decade of experience spanning pension investment, economic policy, project management, financial inclusion, development finance and investment supervision. His work contributes to strengthening pension policy, expanding financial inclusion and promoting the responsible deployment of long-term pension capital to support productive economic activity while safeguarding the interests of contributors and retirees.

Haruna has led financial inclusion initiatives, contributed to macroeconomic and pension policy development, and provided technical input on how states can responsibly leverage pension funds for sustainable development.

His professional interests centre on building a pension system that delivers value across the entire pension journey, from encouraging young Nigerians, entrepreneurs and workers to save and participate, to investing those savings effectively and ultimately improving retirement outcomes.

He holds a PhD in Development Economics and an MSc in Economics.
